About the Workshop

• “Fishbowl Exercise”: Two concentric circles of chairs where health care providers and patients share experiences and challenges that both groups often encounter
• Purpose is to understand each side of LGBT health (caring for LGBT patients/coming out to your physician)

Goals of the Workshop

• Create welcoming and affirming health care practices for LGBT individuals in order to reduce health care disparities in the LGBT community
• Increase understanding, comfort, and confidence talking about LGBT issues
• Appreciate the value in talking with non-LGBT individuals about LGBT issues
• Learn how to take a leadership role in these conversations
• Understand the issues that LGBT individuals deal with every day that non-LGBT individuals take for granted
